Three days after, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), are yet to produce the officer who killed Ivan Onoseriegba on Thursday 13th July 2023, in Okpanam, Oshimili north local government area of Delta State.
The victim, a student, was fatally hit on his abdomen, while the shattered glasses which the stray bullet pierced through injured his younger brother, Erhumossele.
On that fateful day, the two children were in their mother’s shop, Hillsi Cakes N More Academy, on Edoz Plaza, Okpanam Road when the unfortunate incident occured.
Although the Agency has issued a statement on Saturday 15th July, by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on behalf of the Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), but didn’t identify the shooter.
Nigerians are angry that the federal government agency was protecting the name of such notorious officer and the team members who embarked on a journey that sent a toddler to his early grave.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command, said it had begun investigation into the killing of the two years old child Ivan Onoseriegba.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, made the disclosure, on Saturday July 15th 2023, in Asaba, the State capital.
The image maker said: “the Command is aware of the incident that occured on the 13th of July 2023.
“It is a sad one, it is a tragic incident and the Command is truly and indeed disturbed.
“Unfortunately, one of the kids who the stray bullet hit, gave up the ghost at the hospital. His age is 2 years and his name is Ivan Onosebarhe.
“The CP has directed that the matter be transferred to the State CID. As I speak with you, the matter is already been investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Delta State Police Command.
“And all parties involved will appear before the CP on Monday”, the PPRO, revealed.
