61 Delta Assembly Staff Shortlisted For Promotion, Says Commission Chairman

Sixty-one staff members of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission have been shortlisted for promotion to higher levels in their service to the state.

This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Sunday Ebireri, during the 2025 promotion interview held at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba.

Ebireri noted that the shortlisted staff span across management and middle management cadres.

Accompanied by board members and the Commission’s Secretary, Barr. Austin Uwasike, Ebireri emphasized the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that staff of the Delta State Legislature remain effective and responsive.

He highlighted that recruitment, promotions, training, and other welfare initiatives are top priorities, in line with the legal framework establishing the Commission.

The Chairman assured staff that his leadership would continue to motivate them for improved service delivery and urged them to reciprocate by dedicating themselves fully to their duties.

Ebireri reaffirmed the Commission’s alignment with the MORE agenda of the State Government and lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his supportive leadership and commitment to the welfare of the state’s workforce, including those in the Legislature.

He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for releasing funds for the promotion process and appreciated the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, for approving and facilitating the commencement of the interviews.

He said, “One of our core mandate is promotion of staff of the Commission. That duty is the reason we are here this morning. 61 management and middle management staff have been listed for this exercise.

“His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori Governor of Delta State always place the welfare of workers in the state a priority. We in the Commission cannot but be in line with MORE agenda of the Governor.

“We will continue to motivate staff for enhance service delivery and optimal performance. I believe that staff also owe it as a duty to put in their best always in their work places”, Ebireri stated.

Some of the staff interviewed expressed heartfelt appreciation to the state leadership and legislature for their dedication to promoting quality and efficiency in the public service.

They described the promotion to higher cadres as a morale booster and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing meaningfully to the system’s growth and effectiveness.

The promotion exercise is scheduled to span two days.
