A political advocacy group, the United Ughelli South Political Reawakening Forum, has urged Chief Emuoboh Gbagi to contest the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly election, stressing the need for more impactful representation and accelerated development in Ughelli South.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Chairman, Martins Ovedje, and Secretary, Onajite Ejaiita, the forum expressed concern over what it described as years of underperformance by past representatives, which it said had slowed infrastructural and socio-economic progress in the area.

The group noted that despite Ughelli South’s historical significance, the locality continues to lag behind in development, attributing this to a deficit in leadership capacity and strategic vision.

It maintained that a review of previous representation revealed only minimal impact, particularly singling out past efforts during the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

According to the forum, Chief Emuoboh Gbagi possesses the intellectual depth, entrepreneurial background, and leadership competence required to reposition the constituency.

It also highlighted his business pedigree, noting his connection to the legacy of his father, the late Kenneth Gbagi, and his continued role in sustaining and expanding that enterprise.

The group expressed confidence that his emergence would translate into meaningful transformation, urging constituents to rally support should he enter the race, with the expectation of improved social, infrastructural, and economic outcomes for Ughelli South.
