The paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Capt. Joseph Timiyan, Agbonu Torububor 1, has extolled the leadership qualities of the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, for making do with his promise to visit him (king) over the demise of his mother, late Chief Mrs. Princess Amoguye Tamiyan.
The Ijaw monarch equally eulogized the governorship candidate of the SDP, in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, OON for fulfilling his promise to attend the burial.
The traditional ruler showered encomium on the duo on Saturday November 5th 2022, during the final rite of his late mother who passed to the world beyond on 30th August 2022.
The monarch who doubles as the Chairman, Delta Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum, appreciated Prince Adebayo and Olorogun Gbagi, for keeping to their words when they promised to visit during the burial.
He said the presidential and governorship candidates, both renowned businessmen, international lawyers and philanthropists have distinguished themselves from other politicians who often promise and fail.
“I want to formally welcome you all to Ogulagha Kingdom, keeping your promise was a good thing, this is the first time a presidential candidate is visiting my kingdom, though it has become normal for Politicians to make promises and fail to keep up with them.
“I didn’t take it to heart when you promised to grace the burial ceremony, and a call came that you could not make it that very day, I didn’t feel bad.
“I was rather, surprise to see that you made it today, you have kept your promises and it is good, keep it up” the monarch said.
In his remarks, the SDP Presidential candidate cum owner of KAFTAN TV, Prince Adebayo, said that the visit was not for campaign but to commiserate and spend time with him as mama has just been laid to rest.
“This is not a political visit, this is a personal visit. So, we are not talking politics here. We came to be with you”, the youngest presidential candidate maintained.
Earlier, the SDP Governorship candidate cum largest private investor in the state, Olorogun Gbagi, while briefing the monarch on the purpose of their visit, said it was in fulfilment of their earlier promise to grace the burial ceremony.
Said he: “Our coming today is a follow-up on the condolence since the day mama passed away, this visit is ceremonial to mark our respect for mama”, the owner of Kenneth Gbagi Foundation, reiterated.
It would be recall that Adewole and Gbagi who paid a condolence visit to the family of the monarch at the Palace, in Obotobi 1, Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu local government area, extolled the virtues of Late Princess Amoguye Timiyan and her contributions to society, stressing further that the revered queen mother lived a fulfilled life.
