Ahead of the governorship election, the standard bearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Delta State, His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, OON, has urged Deltans to vote in the interest and progress of the State and future generations.
Speaking during a rally, held at the Sapele Athletic Club in Sapele local government area, the largest private investor in the State said, what he was asking Deltans to do, is what is in the best interest of the State, charging them to vote in the interest of the children and children yet unborn.
Gbagi on Saturday January 4th 2023, in continuation of the SDP Local Government Area (LGA), Rally, said Delta deserves the best.
The former minister of state for education, restated his view that decisions about the 2023 elections be based on what is best for the state and the country, its destinies, and its future as a State and a nation respectively.
He also restated how his training and experience in governance serving as former minister under president Goodluck Jonathan, would help him lead the State effectively as governor.
“Vote for the progress of Delta State. I plead with you people of Sapele, this poverty and destruction, is enough. Let us liberate ourselves.
“I will create jobs for Deltans. If I bring eternit, flour Mills and our seaports back, we would have employed all our youths.
“Sapele, where I was born, we must liberate it. I am a Sapele child, vote for me so that I can help you and liberate the State.
“We will declare free education for all Delta children. We will form our mothers into cooperatives so they can do business and earn a better living and we will pay all teachers pension and gratuity as at when due.
“If you choose a man that you are brilliant than to become your governor, it means that you have failed. I am a lawyer, I didn’t steal my certificate, I have not been arrested before and I have never done contract or benefited from the state, the governor is aware.
“I have come to plead with you people today, I like the fact that you people have all come out en mass like the way you have done, I am very appreciative of you people.
“Please, as I see this mammoth crowd, let this gathering show on the elections of on the 25th of February and 11th of March. Tell your friends, parents and uncles that the solution is SDP”, he noted
Speaking further on the presidential election, Gbagi, an advocate of rotational presidency said: “I was a former federal minister, I represented you as a minister, we took a decision because these people are lying to you so that they can destroy you people.
“We took a decision that when one Muslim becomes president, another Christian, will become president. The Hausas have done their own that is finishing now, it is the turn of the Christian.
“There is an Islamic law that if a country produces president continuously without break for 10 years, that country has become a Muslim country.
“Buhari, is completing eight years, if you vote either APC or PDP that have Muslim presidential candidates, all your houses and Churches will be converted to Mosque.
“So, it is a no go area for all of us. Let them not deceive you. Now, there are only two presidential candidates in my opinion, choose one of them. For SDP, the candidate is Prince Adewole Adebayo, from Ondo state. He is an Anglican and if you vote for him, you are voting for me.
“Peter Obi, is a Catholic, he is a Christian. All we need is a true Christian, vote for any of them. I am pleading with you people, let us not destroy our votes.
The crowd assured the SDP gubernatorial candidate, that Sapele would mobilize and vote massively for the party in the elections.
