Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has said that the country needs Christian leaders who are spiritually equipped to be used as catalysts of transformation.
He stated this on Saturday August 27th 2022, in his remarks during a meeting with Kenneth Gbagi Christian Action for Good Governance held at the country home of the party’s governorship candidate, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, in Oginibo, Ughelli south local government area of Delta State.
He said the country and the church must of necessity become partners in the current drive to rid the society of every worrisome tendency, insisting that Nigeria needs God-fearing leaders at this time in history to change her fortunes.
The vibrant lawyer of international repute said, Godly people should take over the mantle of leadership.
Hear him; “Righteousness is what the Church has to offer politicians, that was what the Prophets of old used to do. They will remind you that you have built a beautiful palace but you have taken a woman that does not belong to you.
“That was the job of the church and that job needs to come back because it is not for nothing that God through a king wrote in Proverbs that when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice.
“The job of the church is to help us in our righteousness. To remind us that we are just a simple shepherd boy from the bush and when you are holding power, you are acting as an agent of God, looking after the resources of God for the benefit of the people of God.
“Everyone called of God particularly Christians should respond to the call of God, so that our country will move forward and the people on the other side will see and say let us go and serve the God of these people.
The Ondo-born Prince maintained that it was very good that Christians must get involved in politics because the people would only rejoice when the righteous rules.
“Church, let us pray to God. God measures time differently from men and God’s time is always the best. If we go scripturally, God measures time with the reign of kings. When good time comes, it will come with the enthronement of righteousness leadership.
“If we allow God to guide us like he guided Samuel until he got David. We need to pray so that we can be guided to give relieve to the people of Nigeria, because if we don’t, we will find out that what we call suffering today, is like that king who said he will flog his people with scorpion
“The mission of God in Nigeria, is carried out through the Church even the creation of the country came through the works of the missionaries. God has a mission that he wants the Christian Church to perform in Nigeria.
“The time is coming and it looks like eminent when God will elevate someone of the faith and he will rule with righteousness and those who are opposed to the Church, who are oppressors they will find out and say their God shall be our God.
“It is through bringing forth a righteous ruler of a Christian faith in Nigeria and allow a humble, quiet and a shepherd-like boy to come to the throne and rule in a manner which people of all faith will say when you are ruled by a Christian you have no problem.
“And that is how others will respect Christianity and realized that there is justice established through this person.
“One thing we have to bear in mind is that a good government without resources is better than a bad government with all the resources and a good government can only come when the people understands the purpose of government.
“They should understand that the people who goes to serve in government are like priests who serve in the temple. It is people who think they have solved their life’s problem, they don’t have any greed or any of such desires, that we should put in office”, he said.
