The recipient of the National Honours Award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, has thrilled Deltans to a mind-blowing liberation message of industrialization when he becomes govern come May 29th this year.
Gbagi, who is the leading governorship candidate in the State, in the forthcoming general election and first black African in the world to be an AKS member of Rotary Club International to donate $250, 000 to charity, gave a thrilling message to industrialize the State, at Christ Church PRO-CATHEDRAL in Sapele, the administrative headquarter of Sapele local government area of Delta state.
The largest private employer of labour in the State, spoke on Sunday January 5th 2023, at the Diocese of Sapele, during the official presentation and launching of Seven Books authored by His Lordship, Rt. Rev’d (Dr) Blessing A. Erifeta, Bishop, Diocese of Sapele (Anglican Communion).
Alated Gbagi, fascinated Deltans with his blueprint that was laced with a nostalgia that made the congregation gave him a standing ovation and applauded him for his visionary move to liberate the State.
The congregation became more enraptured with Gbagi’s remarks, when he said: “I am not corruptible and I can assure you that it is not going to be business as usual after May 29th when by the grace of God, I will be sworn-in as governor”.
Worshippers who were delighted with Gbagi, at Christ Church PRO-CATHEDRAL, gave the Criminologist a standing ovation which intimidated the APC gubernatorial candidate and his campaign team that were present, including a former Commissioner for education, Mrs. Veronica Ogbuago, former Commissioner for Housing, Chief Paulinus Akpeki and others.
Speaking further the security expert said: “the only way we can prove to Deltans, is for us to come before the entire state and present ourselves and credentials.
“The greatest problem of Delta today, is corruption. Were we to curb corruption, nip it, we will have less problems as we have now.
“If you take Delta State, right from Sapele, Oghara, Warri to Asaba, we have about a 142 limited liability companies, Top Feeds Ltd Nigeria, Unoka And Sons Motors Nigeria, Score-beer, Salt factory, today it is a regretable situation that Delta has lost it all, when its counterparts in Lagos, Ogun and in other parts of the country are doing very well.
“Hopelessness have set in a state like Delta that our children are migrating to other states that hitherto will not be as good and as great as Delta.
“We have to change the narrative, industry is the solution”, lamenting the security situation that has driven away companies with many shutting their doors against themselves as early as 8:00 in the evening.
“The reason is not far fetched. The young ones are now killing themselves, they are into yahoo and what have you, caused by an irresponsible governance that we have brought upon ourselves.
“We must cut it short and we must deal with it. You need an industrialist, you do not need to rely on a civil servant’s mentality and arrangement. You need an entrepreneur to be able to bring investment here.
“You need somebody of character that have been tested to be able to turn the situations around. If we don’t get it right this March 11th 2923, like a number of people have said, we will never get out of it again.
“Today, we have a debt of about N600 billion without corresponding industries. These people are going to bring stolen money, they are going to bring money hitherto you cannot trace its whereabout.
“On that day and time, take that money, it is your money, use it nothing will happen and vote for SDP”.
Again, the cheering crowd gave the former chairman, Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA), a thunderous ovation over his inspiring speech that held them spellbind.
The event was attended by the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, the Deputy Senate President cum governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege, among others.
