Like every other prayers offered by traditional rulers in time past for the presidential and governorship candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming general elections, the one offered by Urhobo monarchs, is very dear to the party.
This was aptly demonstrated by the 24 kings of Urhobo kingdoms under the platform of Urhobo Traditional Rulers Forum during a consultation visit led by Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi in company of the Presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo and other party chieftains.
It was a combination of prayers with spiritual propelling to face the 2023 election year from the traditional rulers of Ughievwen, Ughelli, Effurun, Evwreni, Idjere, Abraka, Oghara among others.
The prayers served as a propelling force that launched the SDP and its candidates into the general elections and a rebirth of the ideas of MKO Abiola and Olorogun Felix Ibru, 30 years after.
There is need for Nigerians, to be awaken and not only pray but work for the success of SDP in the forthcoming election in Delta state and the nation for peace, justice and prosperity.
With the joint prayers, led by the Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Dr. (Ovie) R.L. Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1, the party is set to face and surmount all the challenges confronting the nation and the citizens, will be a thing of the past when elected in 2023.
The situation in the country calls for prayers of all and sundry as it gave the monarchs the opportunity to pray for peace and prosperity of the land.
In his prayers which was in tandem with the kings, the Olomu Kingdom, prayed: “We (kings) all jointly agreed together to pray for our son who is vying for the president of our country, Nigeria and our son contesting for the governorship of Delta State.
“We thank God for the way and manner you people are living your lives and who has given you people this idea to contest the forthcoming election and lead our country, Nigeria.
“It is what a child requests that is given to him. The presidency that you asked for, we pray that God will release it for you.
“The governorship that you requested for, we pray with one voice that God will give it to you.
“You people will do all of these with good health, peace and journey mercies. Wherever you people will go for campaigns, you will return home safely and peacefully.
“This idea that you people came up with, may the Spirit of God that gives all understanding, be there for you people. May God lead your paths and footsteps.
“All your heart desires, most especially the leadership of the the country, Nigeria and the state, as we have agreed, may you remember the kings when you are elected”, the monarchs, decreed.
