Indigenes of Agbaghare Community in Ughelli south local government area of Delta State, have pledged to work for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, in 2023.
The community made the pledge during a consultative visit by the former minister of State for education, recently.
The President General of the Community, Chief Vincent Taiwo, made the pledge at the Community’s Town Hall while welcoming the SDP governorship flag bearer and his entourage.
Chief Taiwo said that come 2023, Gbagi, would be sworn-in as governor of the state, stressing that nothing would stop it.
He assured that the community leadership would use its network to deliver Gbagi, in the general election.
“We are grateful to our governor, you are already there nothing can stop it.
“They know what I can do, by the grace of God, Gbagi is the governor. As he said that no vote should go out to any other party, I assure you, it will be so”, he said.
In his remarks, the largest private investor in the state, said he was in the community to bring them to speed with his gubernatorial ambition.
He urged them not to allow anyone to deceive them into selling their destinies for another four or eight years period, a situation that would spell doom for the entire State.
Said he: “when I first came here, I told you to vote for Ifeanyi Okowa and you people respected me. But this time, I have come for my personal project. By his grace, I don’t lie.
‘I am not here for jokes, when someone calls you a fool, you tell the person that you are not a fool but that you are only respecting him. I made bold to tell you that I have not seen one kobo from Okowa and I don’t want to see.
“I did not take any contract from Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, when they were governors and I have not taken anyone from Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s government.
The two roads I am doing, I am doing them with my money, the state is owing me”, he stated.
Continuing, he said: “The only thing that is comparing me is that I want to liberate Delta State. The current hunger in the land is nothing compared to what is ahead if you vote foolishly.
“I came with the platform of SDP, this is my first time of contesting governorship and with this, the victory has come home. There’s no one that is stronger than God. I am in the race because of you.
“If you don’t vote wisely, you would have sold your destinies for another eight years. If you vote for me, I will do what I am supposed to do for you people. I will not abandon you. I don’t want any vote from this community to go to another party.
“Let us think deeply and vote for SDP. You people should prepare and you should not allow yourselves to be deceived. Among them there’s no human being who can match me”, he declared.
