The joy of the Egone Family of Ododeghor Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State knew no bounds as they took their first child, Miss Redeem Oghenenyerhovwome Egone, to the church, eleven years after marriage for dedication.
The child dedication ceremony, which took place on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Redeem Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Divine Pavilion Parish, Awhinawhin, Ughelli, amidst dancing and jubilation by well wishe made the Easter celebration a double one for the couple and the invited guests.
Speaking on the topic, “Victory At Last,” drawn from the Bible book of John 20:1-10, the officiating minister, Pastor Jones Emesone, admonished believers to be steadfast, even during trials and temptations, saying that victory was sure to come at the end.
Pastors Emesone cited the case of Jesus Christ who suffered pains and died for the sins of mankind, but brought victory to humanity through the divine passion.
The servant of God said that the service of God demanded sacrifices, adding that if one wanted to go far as a Christian, one must learn to give ones time and talent sacrificially to the service of God.
He emphasised further that merely going to the church on Sundays as a christian would not help anyone to attain the desired goals, saying that, “if you want God to answer your prayers, the simple secret is that you must learn to do God’s work steadfastly”.
He admonished believers to be dedicated to God, instead of running from one place to the other, looking for miracles.
Narrating his experience for the past 11 years of childlessness, Mr. Barry Egone said it was never easy for him and his wife, adding that they almost lost faith of having any child.
Mr. Egone, disclosed that his wife had about six miscarriages during the period of waiting which added to their suffering and pains but stressed that their waiting had paid off at last.
“I want to say that it was not easy at all, but I thank God that the storm is over now, ” he said.
While advising those in similar situations in marriage to remain steadfast, Mr. Egone said that there were times his friends would call him that their wives had put to bed and after the visits, when he got home, he would be sad, but that God had turned the situation around for good.
His wife, Mrs. Ejiro, who danced uncontrollably during the dedication ceremony said that Jesus had taken away her pains, shame and disgrace.
Mrs. Egone said that the journey was painful and sad, adding that it came to a point that she almost felt that she was a disappointment to her husband and womanhood, just as she thanked her pastor and friends who were sources of encouragement to her during the trying period.
