YULETIDE: Police To Prosecute Sellers, Users Of Fireworks

The police in Delta State has warned that anyone caught selling and throwing of knockouts and bangers would be charged to court.

The State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, made the  announcement on Friday 11th December 2020.

A release by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, hinted that the ban on the use of fireworks was still in force, stressing that the Command would enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as “knock out”, “banger”.

According to the police image maker, “Parents/guardians are therefore advised to warn their children/wards to desist from the use fireworks.

“Retailers of such goods are equally warned to withdraw from the sales of these products as anyone arrested will be prosecuted”.

“All Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have been directed to arrest and prosecute any person involved in the sales or use of fireworks in any part of the State”.

The CP also assures Deltans of their safety at all times and call for continued support and useful information to the Police and other security agencies in their untiring efforts at providing a peaceful and secured environment for the people particularly during the yuletide.
