Two nurses on duty and one other person have been apprehended by the police for the missing body parts of a newly born baby in one hospital (name withheld), in Asaba metropolis, Oshimili south local government area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the newborn was brought to the hospital on Sunday but was confirmed dead on arrival by a Paediatric.
It was reliably learnt that the hospital discharged the deceased baby on Sunday evening.
However the parents showed up on Monday October 10th 2022, alleging the disappearance of the late baby’s eyes, nose and an ear.
“The parents brought the child to the hospital on Sunday evening, immediately our children doctor (Paediatric) looked at the child and confirmed the child dead after all effort to bring the newborn back to life
“The hospital discharged them and the parents both the father and mother of the child carried the child away, surprisingly this Monday morning, the parents brought the baby, accusing the hospital for removing the baby’s eyes, nose.and ear.
“He came with the police and arrested some nurses in the hospital”, a source disclosed.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
He revealed that two nurses and one other who he could not confirm whether is a staff of the hospital have been arrested.
Hear him: “Yes, confirm. Three suspects arrested. Two of them are nurses on duty but the third person, I can tell for now whether is a staff or not”.
Asked the name of the hospital, the image maker declined but noted that he would get details tomorrow.
