Persons suspected to be hired assassins have opened fire on a provision store, killing two innocent children and the landlord of the compound in Sapele the administrative headquarter of Sapele local government area of Delta State.
Trouble started on Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022, when the unknown gunmen shot at those sitting and buying items in a store, killing two children along Shell Road in Sapele.
It was gathered that the landlord of the compound who was at the store as at when the gunmen shot at them was rushed to the hospital but later died.
An eyewitness account, said there were several persons in the store including three other men and those who died.
It could not be ascertained whether the three others were hit by bullets from the hoodlums.
Although, the mission of the armed bandits is still sketchy, as no one could ascertain who the operation was targeted at.
In the last one month, Sapele has turned to a war front as over 10 persons have been killed as a result of cult clashes.
At the time of this report, text and WhatsApp messages sent to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, for reaction were not replied.
