It was learnt on Wednesday that the driver allegedly fell asleep between Obikwele and Ossisa communities while heading to Adagor filling station, Ogwashi-Uku, to offload the content but no casualties were recorded.
To forestall fire outbreak, the state fire service quickly swung into action by spraying the surrounding with chemicals to avoid fire disaster, the Director of the service, Mr Eugene Oziwele, said.
Meanwhile, despite sad experiences associated with explosion and fire from fallen tankers, residents of nearby communities along Kwale – Ogwashi-Uku expressway, trooped out in their numbers to scoop fuel from the fallen tanker.
Shortly after the tanker fell and spilled its content, residents around the area were said to have invaded the scene with cans and buckets to fetch fuel.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, who confirmed the incidence, noted that it was wrong for people to go close to fallen tankers especially when they are filled with content.
It would be recall that The Story, had earlier reported that a tanker carrying fuel fell along the Ogwashi-Uku road.
