THE STORY UPDATE: Four Allegedly Murdered, Over N100 Million Carted Away, As Armed Robbers Stormed UBA Bank In Delta

Four persons have been purportedly killed while over N100 million allegedly stolen in the robbery attack on the United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Issele-Uku, Aniocha north local government area of Delta State.

The Story, learnt that the bandits stormed the new generation bank in three vehicles, brandishing various kinds of weapons and suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED), used in blowing off the security door of the bank before taking it and customers hostage for several hours.

Trouble started on Tuesday March 30th 2021, at about the closing hours when the criminals stormed the Issele-Uku branch of the bank, shooting sporadically to scare members of the public away.

It was gathered that dynamites were used on the security door, causing it to shatter completely before gaining access into the bank.

It was reliably learnt that about four persons were allegedly killed as the presence of the hoodlums with their dangerous weapons allegedly chased away the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his men before mounting road block for their unhindered operation.

News of the operation filtered into town about 4:50pm and at 5:06pm, the armed robbers were still unleashing terror on the town as they allegedly stationed their gang members at strategic positions in the town, while other of their members robbed the bank unhindered.

Pictures available revealed that about persons were shot dead while many others sustained bullet wounds.

A source who simply identified herself as Gladys, claimed that she just left the bank shortly after a transaction when the occident occurred.

Another source who gave his name as Happy, said: “UBA bank at Issele Uku community and the Nigeria police station at the community  were stormed and rubbed by notorious armed rubbers.

“The rubbers spent over an hour at the operation without response from security operatives, they further killed four persons during the operation and made away with huge amount of money from the bank”, he alleged.

At press time, the police are yet to make any statement on the robbery saga.

It would be recalled that today’s incident was the third time the UBA bank has been successfully robbed.
