In spite of her stepmother’s presence, Mrs. Ifeakachukwu Confidence, at the station, the police at ‘B’ Divisional Police Station, are yet to grant the stepdaughter bail.
Mrs. Ifeakachukwu, in company of a neighbour had visited the station for the release of the girl but the IPO, one Ihanacho, who is in charge of the case, reportedly asked them to go and return later.
It was gathered that when the stepmother was later invited, she was told that they were ordered that she report at the headquarters for further investigation.
At 8:09pm, on Monday 30th November 2020, Mrs. Ifeakachukwu, was released without her stepdaughter.
It was learnt that the police demanded that someone else should stand for her bail instead of the stepmother.
It was reliably learnt that the police has returned the girl to ‘B’ Divisional Police Station after spending hours at the state Command.
It would be recall that the police on Sunday 29th November demanded for a relative to the girl who would take her on bail and be able to produce her whenever she was needed by the police.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said there was nothing wrong with the police inviting them, stressing that investigation was still ongoing.
