Suspected Criminal Escapes Jungle Justice In Delta Community

If not for the benevolence of a community leader who do want his name on print, a criminal who specializes in bugling phone shops, identified as Junior Osareme, would have been burnt alive by angry youths of Agbor, Ika south local government area of Delta State.

The suspect, an indigene of Benin city, Edo State, alongside two others who are now at large, were alleged to have attempted to burgle a phone shop located along Obi Ikenchuku road, Agbor at about 1:00am on the fateful day.

It was gathered that the suspect, narrowly escaped death as he suffered deep machete cuts on his head and body from the angry mob who were determined to end his life before rescue came his way.

An impeccable source disclosed that the suspect was being handcuffed by the police while receiving treatment at government owned hospital in Agbor.

At the time of filing this report, call and text message put to the cellphone of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, for confirmation, were rebuffed.

Meanwhile, the member representing Ika South State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, fondly addressed as Chuky Dandy, by his admirers have offset his medical bills.

The lawmaker on Sunday, November 29, 2020 exhibited an act of kindness as he showed compassion towards the young man who was brutally beaten and wore tyre for allegedly committing crime in Agbor.
   
The warm-hearted and humane lawmaker, paid an undisclosed sum for the suspect’s hospital bill having being called on telephone by the community youth leader who joined in rescuing the suspect from being lynched by the angry mob.

The lawmaker while advising the suspect, condemned his action, asking him to thank God for sparing his life.

He used the medium to advice youths to be positively useful to themselves and not to first consider crime as a means to an end.
