Senator Ned Nwoko Makes Special Appeal For Release Of Jailed Nwaoboshi

The Senator representing Delta North at the National Assembly, Prince Ned Nwoko has called for the release of former lawmaker, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi through speedy judicial respite.

Nwaoboshi, erstwhile Delta North Senator was sentenced to seven years in prison in July 2022 by the Court of Appeal in Lagos over graft and money laundering, but the matter is pending at the Supreme Court where he is seeking a reversal of the judgement.

Reacting to Nwaoboshi’s ordeal, Senator Nwoko who just assumed office at the senate chambers, Abuja said in a Press statement by his media directorate that the imprisoned lawmaker has his empathy and goodwill.

According to the statement, Nwaoboshi should be freed from imprisonment to close an unfortunate chapter, towards a reunion with his family and society.

“As the Senator representing Delta North, I have a responsibility to seek the good of all constituents of Anioma land, including Nwaoboshi as my predecessor. My call is for the peace, progress and unity of Delta North. I made a commitment to safeguard the interests and well being of Anioma people, irrespective of circumstances and political affiliations.

“Having been in prison custody since February 2023, I believe it is time for him to go home, with lessons served. My advocacy is not a repudiation of justice but affirmation of my firm faith in the judicial system as a custodian of rule of law, human dignity and civil liberties.

“My thoughts and wishes are with Nwaoboshi as I earnestly appeal for reprieve over his current challenges in detention. I look forward to his eventual release”, Nwoko said .
