Their arrest is a follow up to the case of kidnapping of one Joy Osameze, 39 years, who was kidnapped on 5th February 2021 on her way back from the farm at Abraka Farm Reserve, Obiaruku.
This was made known on Wednesday 10th March 2021, by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Ari Mohammed Ali, while parading the suspects before newsmen at the Command’s headquarter in Asaba.
According to him, “Five suspects, Emmanuel Ojibe, 18 years, Osam Ogolime, 21 years, Ossai Reuben, 22 years, Odigili chukwutem, 33 years and Ukpaka Confidence, 20 years were arrested”.
He revealed that upon their arrest, they were transferred to Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crimes Squad (SAKCCS).
Speaking further, Ali said on 7th March 2021, one Emmanuel Ojibi, 18 years, confessed and led SAKCCS operatives to the arrest of one Razaq Ifamaye, 38 years and Gbenga Olawuyi, 50 years both natives of Ekiti State but resident at Old Market Road, Obiaruku and one Samson Oduni, 31 years, a native of Obiaruku.
“Upon interrogation, Razaq Ifamaye, who confessed to the crimes led Police operatives attached to Special Anti – Kidnapping and Cyber Crimes squad to Shegelo Beach, Obiaruku on 9th March 2021, at about 1615hrs where a Baco Bag containing human skull and other human parts suspected to be that of the victim was recovered.
“One Chikogwu Isaac A.K.A Ikukwu, 38 years, a native of Obiaruku whose premises the exhibit was found, instigated four others who are now at large to attack the operatives in order to prevent and obstruct the operatives from making the recovery.
“He was however arrested and the human remains were taken to the Agbor General Hospital for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing”, the Police Boss added.
