The immediate Commissioner of Environment, Barr. John Nani, narrowly escaped death as his orderly took bullets from a colleague mobile policeman while on active duty, trying to protect his boss.
Trouble started when Nani, the current Executive Director, Finance and Administration (EDFA), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), on Monday 15th February 2021, escaped death when the orderly tried to intervened in a misunderstanding between his boss and the police officer allegedly attached Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, in Sapele.
It was gathered that the orderly whose name is yet to be ascertained was trying to intervene in the crisis after a Toyota Hilux Van, conveying staff of the company hit the Director’s car close to Zenith Bank at Ajogodo at about 7:00 in the evening.
It was learnt that the Seplat van bashed Nani’s car from behind after he parked to check the level of damage done to his car when he received slap from the trigger happy mobile policeman when the deceased officer who tried to intervene was shot on one of his thighs.
It was learnt that the mobile policeman was overpowered by colleagues at the scene who disarmed him while Nani’s orderly was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but couldn’t survived it.
Sources alleged that the mobile policeman attached to Seplat pointed his gun on the DESOPADEC EDFA, it was learnt that he has been arrested.
