Police Nab 11 Suspected Armed Bandits, Cult Members In Delta

Determined to send hoodlums parking, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, has made harvest of arrest especially kidnappers, armed robbers and members of dreaded cult groups across the state.

The police Opon 24th March 2021, disclosed that their arrest followed intelligence gathering, by the Commander, Eagle Net Special Squad SP Dimka Usman who detailed his team led by DSP Ibusa Danyaya and some civilian Anti-Cult Unit, who stormed a notorious criminal hideout in Oghor community, Udu local government area of the state where some criminal elements who have been terrorizing the state hide to carry out their nefarious activities.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Edafe Bright, the police have been on the look out of some suspects that have been terrorizing the Command and Its environ of armed robbery, kidnappings, attack on police officers and carting away their arms.

“On arrival of the police patrol team and civilian anti-cult, a gun battle ensued between the police and the hoodlums that led to the arrest of Henry Ogori, 25 years of NO. 18 Ifiha street Udu, Kennedy Akpotu,’ 19 years of Oghor community Udu, Promise Ophiomo, 24 years of NO.35 Ogbe road Udu, Daniel Believe, 19 years of shell quarter DSC.

“Daniel Sele 25 years of Ogbe Street Udu, Paul Zion, 25 years of Oghor Community Udu, Igah Aminu, 27 years of sadisco area Warri, Philip Choice, 26 of Oghor Community, Joshua Ogunamen 21 years, Johnson Opiomo, 22 years of NO.36 Ogbe road and Joshua God’swill 24 years of Ujewu quarters Udu.

“One of the suspects, Igah Aminu later died due to gun shot injury, adding that “two English made beretta pistols, three rounds of live 9mm caliber of ammunition and six mobile phones are were recovered from them. Suspects have confessed to the crime and effort is intensified for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspects who escaped with bullet injuries”, he said.

He pointed out that due to intelligence gathering, community policing and vital information from members of the public, the Command has been recording successes against these hoodlums, assuring that “it will continue with the support of members of the public, the command will continue to deliver on the promises of the Commissioner of Police and make the state safe for all”.

Similarly, “On the 23rd March 2021, “sequel to a report by one of the indigene of Ovade community that along Oviade road to Oghara, he came across three boys armed with a short barrel gun and they blocked his path attempting to snatch his unregistered Daylong motorcycle but he was able to escape from them and raised alarm that attracted passersby who gave them a hot chase.

“The DPO Oghara mobilized patrol men to the scene where they met the suspect one Gabriel Igodo 35 years already beaten to stupor, suspect was rushed to the hospital where he later died. One short barrel gun with one live cartridge was recovered”, disclosing that investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.

In same vein, “On 24th March 2021, a distress call was received from the S/O Ekakpmre out post under Otu-Jeremi Division, that member of confraternity cult group, led by one oghenerona young goddy, alia king Jaja of Ekakpmre/Egbou Hurie communities Otu-Jeremi went to the home of one Ebeni Jelekun, 29 years of Ekakpmre, who belong to Aiye confratanity cult group, shot him severally and fled.

“The Divisional police officer otu-jeremi CSP Pius Eredei led patrol teams to the scene, 6 expanded ‘AA’ cartridges were recovered, the victim was rushed to Otu-Jeremi general hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, corpse deposited in the Otu-Jeremi general hospital mortuary.

“The Divisional police officer intensified effort to arrest the suspects, and as a result, two cultists Omoyevwe Emmanuel, 29 years and marcus michael, 24 years both of Usienfurun community were arrested with charms recovered from them”.

The image maker hinted that the Commissioner of Police has urged members of the public to continue to support and help the police by giving vital information to the police, assuring that their identity would be concealed just as he vowed to make the state unbearable for criminal elements.
