Police Arrest Motorcycle Snatchers, Impound Eight Tricycles, 50 Motorcycles Over Lawlessness

The police have arrested two suspects, specialized in motorcycle snatching, a 21-year-old Boytie Samuel, and a 47-year-old Vero Amughoro, of Koko Junction Oghara, Ethiope west local government area of Delta State.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Oghara Division CSP Jimoh Hassan, on 17th July 2021, detailed patrol team from the Division to embark on Aberdeen system of patrol around Oghara and its environs to checkmate the activities of criminals and to also prevent crimes in the area.

A release on Wednesday July 21st 2021, by the Ag. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, disclosed that the team while at Koko juction intercepted the male suspect of Oghara Junction, stressing that the suspect who looked very suspicious was taken to the station for interrogation.

“The suspect on interrogation confessed himself and others at large to be motorcycles snatchers, he later led police Operatives to Koko junction where two unregistered motorcycles, one big Elema generator, Nissan Primera with reg No BEN 564 LT all suspected to be stolen were recovered”, stating that manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.

In another development, “On 17th July 2021, in compliance with the directives issued by the Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali, on the continues raiding of black spot/Criminal hideout and intensive patrol/stop and search, the DPO GRA Division Asaba while on patrol with the Divisional patrol team behind NTA Asaba, a tricycle rider with two occupants on sighting them jumped down and escaped into the bush abandoning the tricycle.

“The tricycle with Reg. No  ASB 144 WZ when searched, one locally made cut -to -size single barrel gun,  one battle axe, one techno phone and  twenty wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs were recovered”, noting that effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.

According to the image maker, as part of the Command’s proactive and preventive measures to checkmate the activities of criminals and cultist in the state, a joint patrol team comprising DPOs of ‘A’, ‘B’ and GRA Divisions in Asaba carried out  raids of black spots and criminal hide outs which include uncompleted buildings and brothels were also raided, a total of 64 suspects were arrested, screened and those found wanting were charged to court.

“Fifty motorcycles of riders who contravened the existing order banning motorcycles in some part of the state were also impounded  and a total number of eighty Tricycles (KEKE) who also contravene the state government directives to stop working after 2200hours were also impounded”.

The statement called on nembers of the public to always obey government directives, particularly tricycles and motorcycle riders, as the command would not relent in ensuring that their tricycles and motorcycles are impounded to serve as a deterrent.
