Notorious Kidnapper Arrested In Delta

A 30-year-old suspected kidnapper, Akpos James, also known as “General”, of Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa State, have been arrested in connection with the murder of some policemen at a eatery on 10th January 2021, in Ughelli, the administrative headquarter of Ughelli north local government area of Delta State.

The suspect is said to be terrorizing Ughelli, Warri, Abraka, Sapele and its environs with kidnapping and armed robbery activities.

According to the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, operative of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKCCS), on 24th April 2021, at Abraka apprehended the suspect in connection with several kidnapping, armed robbery within Abraka, Warri, Ughelli and  Sapele environs.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect who gave useful Information in connection to the crime, led same SAKCCS operatives to the gang’s hideout at Bomadi waterside, Bomadi local government area of the state on 30th April 2021, where other members of his gang were engaged in a gun battle.

“But owing to the superior fire power of the police, members of the gang escaped with various degrees of gun shot injuries into the river.

“Two Ak47 rifles, one hundred and fourteen rounds of 7.62 ammunition with six magazines  were recovered”, assuring that manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

In another development, on 29th April 2021, patrol team of police men attached to 51pmf while on nipping point  along Abraka/Eku expressway on the same date, flagged down a tinted Toyota Camry car with Reg no LKJ 52 AW Gold colour.

The image maker, noted that the car was driven by one Seidu Mohammed, 27 years of Oworo Estate Felele Lokoja-Kogi State with  one Samuel Daniel, 28 years and Yusuf Mekudu, 28 years all of the same Oworo Estate Lokoja-Kogi state.

“They could not give satisfactory account of themselves and how they got the vehicle, they were arrested and taken to the police station and investigation commenced immediately.

“During interrogation, they confessed that they stole the car on 28th April 2021, from where it was parked at international market Lokoja”, adding that investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, members of the public are enjoined to help the police by giving any useful information to the police that would lead to the arrest of the other fleeing members of the gang, while assuring them that their identity would be treated with high level of confidentiality.
