Man Kills Brother To Inherit His Motorcycle

A resident of Kumbi village in Kirfi local government area, Yakubu Adamu, has been apprehended by the Bauchi Police Command on allegations of fatally stabbing his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar, with the intention of acquiring his motorcycle.

The Bauchi State Police Command issued a statement through its spokesperson, Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, on Friday.

According to Wakil, the accused openly acknowledged his involvement in the crime and also confessed that he had initiated motorcycle theft since 2020.

The police detailed the incident: “On October 13, around 7:30 p.m., Usman Mohammad, 38, from Gorondo Village via Alkaleri council, Bauchi State, reported an incident at the Divisional Headquarters, Kirfi.

He stated that on the same day at approximately 3:40 p.m., Yakubu Adamu, 25, from Kumbi village via Alkaleri council, armed with a sharp knife, attacked his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar, 25, at the same location. Yakubu robbed him of his red Bajaj motorcycle bearing registration number 526-OG, the value of which is yet to be determined.”

“Using a knife, the suspect inflicted multiple stab wounds on him, resulting in severe injuries to his abdomen and hands.

Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives promptly took action and transported the victim to the General Hospital Alkaleri, where a medical doctor confirmed his demise.

The perpetrator has been apprehended and is currently undergoing police interrogations.”

The police continued, “During questioning, the accused admitted to the commission of the crime and additionally disclosed that he initiated his involvement in motorcycle theft in the year 2020 when he colluded with an individual named Auwalu from the same area to steal a red Bajaj motorcycle.

“They subsequently sold it for N70,000 and divided the proceeds between themselves. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the suspect will be prosecuted in court.”

Additionally, the police reported that they, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF) and local hunters dispatched to Tilden Fulani Division in Toro local government area, conducted a raid on two suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in both Angwari and Saya mountains based on credible intelligence.
