Investigation carried out by The Story, revealed that both Communities have an unresolved land dispute which has lingered for years.
It was reliably learnt that the Coordinated murder was allegedly carried out in the early hours of Friday 16th October 2020.
An impeccable source in Ozoro, the administrative headquarter of Isoko north, who do not want the name on print, disclosed that there are conflicting figures of the actual number of deaths.
Our source further disclosed that there is impending war as people are already evacuating both communities over fear of been attacked.
According to the source, “some people said, seven Oleh Indigenes were killed while others said they were 10 that were murdered”.
Meanwhile, to checkmate the activities of both Communities, the Chairman, Isoko north local government Council, Mr. Emmanuel Egbabor, has placed curfew on the troubled community between 7:00pm and 6:00am within Ozoro and along the Ozoro/Oleh back road with immediate effect from today, Friday 16th October 2020.
Egbabor, in a statement, said: “It is with great sadness that I received the news of the killing of some Oleh indigenes.
“While I commiserate with the deceased families and Oleh community, I appeal to the people of Oleh to please remain calm and allow peace to reign while security agencies investigate the killings.
“As neighbours, we must do everything possible to prevent the unnecessary and unwarranted loss of several lives. It is the height of wickedness for some persons to take the lives of others.
“Isoko remains one and I appeal that we don’t allow things to degenerate further even as government takes necessary action to forestall further breakdown of law and order”, the statement added.
Confirming the deaths, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, disclosed that a total of nine persons were killed.
Accordding to the image maker, six are males while the remaining are females, insisting that the situation is now under control.
