Ijaw Nation Demands Unconditional Release Of Kidnapped Victim

The leadership of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) under the Chairmanship of Comrade James Tobin, has expressed their profound outrage at and condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack committed in Elelewo Community, Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

On Tuesday 23rd June, 2020, one Mr. Dennis Banigo, an illustrious son of Ijaw from Ndoki clan, was abducted as they demands his immediate and unconditional release.
This is contained in a press release signed by ASC Edward Asikitams, Media Directorate to the Acting Chairman, IYC Eastern Zone and Member, IYC National Transition Implementation Committee.
The leadership expressed their deep sympathy to the family of the abducted Ijaw son and as well as to the people of Ndoki Clan.
The Acting Chairman, IYC Eastern Zone, Comrade James Tobin reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to State and National peace and security.
He underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice.
He urged all Communities in the State, in accordance with their obligations under National law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the state government and all other relevant authorities.
He further warned that if those in authorities fails to move for the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Dennis Banigo from his abductors, the leadership of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Eastern Zone shall take laws into their hands by every means necessary.
