A Magistrate Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa state has arraigned a former House of Representatives, Keffas Tigga, for alleged cheating and breach of trust to the tune N700, 000.
Tigga’s travail followed a case instituted against him by a socio-cultural group, Affor Cultural Association, in Lafia, the capital of the state.
The former aspirant who was vying to represent Akwanga/Wamba Federal Constituency, was dragged before the Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Jatau, of the Magistrate Court 3.
The defendant, Hon. Tiga, through his lawyer, pleaded for an out of court settlement of the case.
However, the Chief Magistrate, Jatau, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000, directing that the defendant must produced a trusted surety.
Addressing journalists shortly after the adjournment of the matter, the Lawyer of the complainant, Yahaya Muazu Maifata, said Mr. Keffas had cheated on his clients for the sum of N700, 000 with the pretence of producing an association’s magazine, stressing that all efforts to retrieve the fund proved abortive.
According to Multiple Sources, the defendant, Hon. Tigga is alleged to be mischievous as it is on record that he had conspired and cheated both private and state government parastatals on the pretence of producing magazines and other printed publications in the state.
The case was adjourned to 20th of January 2023, for further hearing should the defendant fail to settle out of court as stated during the hearing of the case.
