Two female groups have asked security operatives especially the Nigerian Police Force, Delta State Command to intensify efforts aimed at unearthing the mysterious death of two hardworking females in the state.
The groups, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), and Concern For Peace And Society Survival (COPASS), also beckoned on well-meaning Deltans to help unravel the secret surrounding the rape and murder of a 24-year-old Joy Ifechukwude Ezeamaka in Ubulu- uku, Aniocha south local government area and Queen Clever who was reportedly beheaded in Ozoro town, the administrative headquarter of Isoko north local government area of the state.
In a press release jointly signed and issued on 18th March 2021, by the Delta NAWOJ Chairperson, Patricia Gbemudu and the Executive Director COPASS, Uche Onwumah, tasked the police to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous cime.
The Association leaders who had earlier visited the deceased”s family to commiserate with them, called on the state police Command to carry out thorough investigation to apprehend perpetrators of the odious act and mete out appropriate punishments.
They frowned at the increasing rate of rape and other vices in the society saying that enough is enough to ritual killings and all forms of brutality against the female gender in Delta state.
The NAWOJ Chairperson and COPASS Executive Director urged members of the public to provide relevant information to security agents to enable them apprehend and prosecute the culprits.
They urged security agencies in the state to employ all their intelligence and expertise to ensure criminals would have no hiding place in the state.
It would be recall that late Joy Ifechukwude Ezeamaka was working hard to put smiles on the face of her poor widowed mother by fetching and selling firewood, was raped and killed on Thursday, March 11, at Ubulu-uku, while her remains were discovered around 10:00pm in the bush, same night, by the village vigilante group.
While late Queen Clever, while on her roasted plantain business spot, on the 8th of March 2021, reportedly received a phone call from a supposed customer for a delivery of roasted plantains, but never returned to her spot until she was found beheaded.
NAWOJ and COPASS called for speedy justice to avert further killings.
