Governorship candidate under the auspices of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi FNIM, OON, has unreservedly condemned the abduction of a Warri-based human right lawyer, Dr. Akpomudiaga Odje.
News filtered into town on Sunday May 1st 2023, that gunmen have reportedly abducted the legal luminary at his chamber around Warri main market in the State.
In a statement on 1st May 2023, signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Orusi Kenneth, the former minister of state for education lamented the spate of insecurity that has bedeviled the once secured State.
He said the present tragic incident of kidnapping across the State, should serves as an eye opener and brings to light the urgent need for the Delta State Government to take steps to ensure that the lives of its citizens are protected at all times and at all cost.
He employed the Nigeria Police Force and Delta State Government to put in place safety measures to curb this devastating trend that seems to be on the rise.
According to the security expert, the society we find ourselves in is an unsafe one where crime thrives, and Deltans who are dutifully going about their legitimate businesses are endangered on daily basis.
It is important that we all strive to create a society where people can confidently and comfortably live and do business without the fear of being kidnapped, harassed or harmed in anyway.
It would be recall that Gbagi, a renowned Criminologist and governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the State, has equally called for the immediate release of the two Catholic priests kidnapped on Saturday night.
