Family Of Late Delta Governorship Candidate Cries For Justice

Nine years after, the family of late Delta Gubernatorial candidate under the auspices of Citizens Popular Party (CPP), Chief Ogbe Onokpite, have insisted that justice must prevail in the matter.

He was allegedly murdered by the police nine years after.

The family made the disclosure during a peaceful protest at the venue of the Judiciary Panel of Inquiry on police brutality and extra judicial killing seating at the Governor’s Annex office in warri, Delta state.

While chatting with newsmen outside the venue, brother of the deceased, Mr. Victor Onokpite and comrade Karo Erueme, said the family would stop at nothing to ensure that justice is served accordingly, revealing that they were at the Judicial Panel to push for justice.

They explain that the death of their brother still hurts them and greatly left a huge gap in the family and close associates he left behind.

Addressing journalists the lawyer to the family, Barr. Eriata Odiana, said they are expecting a positive ruling from the Judicial Panel.

They expressed hope that the ruling of the police investigation into the killing of late Ogbe Onokpite would be upheld and the police officers involved would be duly served justice.

He explained that the Judicial Panel of Inquiry has shifted the hearing to Wednesday 25th November 2020, noting that they would be heard.

It would be recalled that late Chief Ogbe Onokpite was purportedly murdered November 26, 2011 at Udu in Udu local government area of the state by five police operatives.
