Barely seven days after the army gave a matching order to all the President Generals (PGs), of all the kingdoms in Ughelli north to produce the missing AK47 Rifle of late Corporal Etaga Stanley, the police officer killed during the #ENDSARS protest in Otovwodo junction in Ughelli, the administrative headquarter of Ughelli north local government area of Delta State, has been found.

It was learnt that the AK47 Rifle was recovered by police officers attached to Ughelli ‘A’ Division on Thursday evening.

The gun with serial number 56-2609008 with 25 round of ammunition, disappeared into thin air when hoodlums took advantage of the protest, attacked the Corporal who was leached to death.

An impeccable source at “A” Division, revealed that the AK47 Rifle was well wrapped in a polythene bag and left in the Ughelli bush following intelligence information from an anonymous person after the usage of 22 rounds of ammunition had been wasted.

“The gun was recovered, after 22 rounds of ammunition had already been expended from it.

“It was wrapped in a black polythene bag with only three rounds of live ammunition left in the magazine,” the source added.

It would be recalled that the Ughelli North Local government Chairman, Hon Godwin Adode, in a security meeting, had tasked leaders within and around Ughelli to produce the weapon or face the consequences.

At press time, call put across to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, for confirmation was rejected.

But a senior police source from the Ughelli Police Area Command confirmed the recovery.
