Angry youths have burnt down two vehicles, two houses and livestock worth over billions of naira in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha south local government area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the properties which includes Piggery, Poultry farms, two houses and two cars belongs to Chief Gabriel Ohai,
the Odogwu of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom.

It was learnt that the youths purportedly stripped naked and rapped his wife, Mrs. Ohai, over the Chieftaincy title, “Odogwu”, which the youths claimed is not the rightful owner of the Odogwu Crown.

Trouble started on Saturday June 26th 2021, with over 12 persons injured while the titled man and his family are rendered homeless.

Narrating his ordeal on Monday June 28th 2021, in Asaba, Chief Ohai, lamented the lawlessness and impunity in the community.

He said, “Police came to re-arrest one Ikechukwu Illoba who led his hoodlums to beat a 75-year-old man to death after an autopsy result confirmed the cause of his death.

“The suspect who raised alarm and called his cohorts as earlier as 6:00am already converge before the arrival of policemen, resisted rearrest”.

Confirming the recklessness, the Odogwu said: “Immediately the police left, the hoodlums moved in their numbers to my house pull down my gate, fence and move to my palace I built, set my house ablaze, stripped my wife naked, rape her, burnt down my two vehicles and moved to my farm, 20 kilometre away from where I live, set the building there ablaze.

“My worker’s quarters were burn down, my livestocks, over 3000 birds, 100 pigs and others were released into the forest. The farm was destroyed completely, some of my property were looted and others set ablaze

“It became imperative for me to talk to the world, the government and human rights organization to know what I am passing through in the hand of those who are above the law. And there is now lawlessness in Azungwu quaters, Ogwash-Uku”.

He alleged that a community Chief, the Odafe of Azungwu and an Assistant Commissioner of Police (APC) in Abuja, Mr. Choke Nwaabua, are the architect of his current ordeal, the Odogwu also blamed the police for complicity in the matter.

A community youth who spoke on ground of anonymity confirmed the destruction in the community.

He said Odogwu’ personal houses and his farm were set ablaze by the irate community youths loyal to a rival Chief.

At press time, calls put across to the Ag. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, were not answered.
