The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, made the disclosure on Wednesday June 16th 2021, when he presented cheques to the widows of late Emeka Nwaedozie and late Festus Monye, members of Okpanam Community Vigilante who were shot dead by suspected herdsmen in Okpanam last year.
Chief Ukah noted that security was everyone’s business and so people must ensure that they alert the security agencies anytime they notice any security breach in their locality.
He said citizens must collaborate with the security agencies through intelligence gathering which he said will go a long way in controlling challenges of security in the state.
He commended the members of the Okpanam Community Vigilante for their good work in securing their community from hoodlums and pledged a motorcycle to the group to help in their surveillance activities of the area.
Responding on behalf of the widows, Chairman of Okpanam Community Vigilante, Mr. Macaulay Ukah, thanked the state government for supporting the widows with financial assistance which he said will help cushion the effect of the lost of their spouses.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of cheques to the widows.
