The Delta State Police Command has successfully foiled multiple planned cult attacks and dismantled armed robbery networks across Warri, Ughelli, and Sapele, resulting in the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of firearms and live ammunition.

Targeted Arrests and Firearms Recovery

1. Ughelli Armed Robbery Arrest

On 27 February 2026 at approximately 23:35 hours, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested Oghenemaro Festus of Upper Agbarho, Ughelli.

A search revealed a pump-action gun loaded with two live cartridges. Festus is linked to a series of house-to-house robberies in the area.

Investigations to apprehend other gang members are ongoing.

2. Sapele Syndicate Arrest

In response to repeated complaints of serial robberies by a motorcycle-riding gang, the Special Assignment Team carried out a targeted operation in the early hours of 1 March 2026.

At about 03:35hrs, Prince Omanure, aka Anini, aged 21, of Ghana Area, Sapele, was arrested.

During interrogation, Omanure led officers to a bush along the Warri-Sapele Road, where a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight live rounds was recovered.

He has provided valuable intelligence to aid the investigation, and efforts to locate other gang members continue.

3. Warri Cultist Arrests

Acting on intelligence that cultists were preparing to attack residents, operatives of the Quick Response Squad, led by SP Achem Collins, raided a building at Okwagbe Street, Igbudu, Warri, on 27 February 2026 at 09:14hrs.

While some suspects fled, three were apprehended: Nelson Mudiagha (Diara), Efe Nyore, and Ebube Ifeanyi.

A meticulous search recovered a cut-to-size locally fabricated double-barrel gun and seventeen live cartridges hidden in the premises.

The suspects confessed to being members of the notorious Black Axe Confraternity (Ayes).
