Delta State Police Command Arrests Suspected Armed Robber, Recovers Firearm In Ozoro

The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Aina Adesola, has recorded another operational success in its sustained crackdown on violent crime with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of an illegal firearm in Ozoro.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, the arrest was effected on February 9, 2026, at about 1400 hours, when operatives attached to the Ozoro Division, while on proactive township patrol along Hospital Road, Ozoro, apprehended one Friday Oghenemaro, 26.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made Beretta pistol.

The suspect, who was reportedly in the company of two other individuals who fled the scene, was taken into custody for further investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is allegedly affiliated with the Aye confraternity and claimed to have been in possession of the firearm since his secondary school days.

The investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.

Commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, CP Adesola reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, and targeted patrols aimed at denying criminal elements any safe haven within the state.

The Commissioner also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information, noting that community cooperation remains indispensable to sustaining peace, security, and public order across Delta State.
