As CP Olufemi Abaniwonda Affirms Commitment to Ensuring Delta is Safe for Residents

The Delta State Police Command has successfully arrested several suspected armed robbers and cultists while seizing a variety of deadly firearms in a series of operations across the state.

The operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the police to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of Delta residents.

Inna release on Wednesday January 22, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright said: “On January 17, 2025, at approximately 09:23 AM, operatives from the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a routine stop and search operation along Ibusa Road by GSM, Asaba.

“The operation led to the arrest of two suspects: Ogochukwu Stephen (25) of No. 7 Ikukuoma Street, ULO Asaba, and Christian Emmanuel (24) of Umuaehea Quarter, Ibusa.

“The officers discovered two rounds of 9mm live ammunition from the suspects, prompting further investigation.

“A subsequent search warrant executed at their residence led to the recovery of two fabricated Beretta pistols and one locally fabricated gun.

“Both suspects and their firearms are now in police custody, with investigations ongoing”.

Similarly, on January 17, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, the DPO of Agbarho Division mobilized his team to the residence of one Eriga Enyuche (40) in a successful operation.

“Upon execution of a search warrant, officers recovered a G3 rifle, a pump action gun, and a cutlass hidden in the ceiling of the suspect’s apartment.

“Enyuche is suspected of being involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related activities.

“He and the seized firearms are now in police custody, and further investigations are underway”.

In another development, on January 18, 2025, the DPO of Bomadi Division received intelligence about suspected cultists parading in Bomadi, brandishing weapons.

The image maker said “Acting on the information, the DPO, alongside local vigilantes, conducted an intelligence-driven investigation.

“The main suspect, Felix Emizibo (29), was arrested at 6:00 PM, and a fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered from him.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Emizibo had purchased the weapon for ₦150,000 from his uncle.

“Emizibo is currently in custody, and police investigations are ongoing”, the Command’s spokesperson revealed.

Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the Delta State Police Command for its continued efforts to dismantle criminal networks and maintain law and order.

“We are committed to ensuring that Deltans can sleep with their two eyes closed, and we will continue to go after criminals wherever they hide,” he stated.

CP Abaniwonda also urged the public to trust the police and provide credible, timely information to assist in crime prevention.

The Delta State Police Command remains determined to create a safer environment for all residents, relentlessly targeting and neutralizing criminal activities throughout the state.
