Delta Police Command Achieves Significant Breakthroughs In Crime Fighting

The Delta State Police Command has announced a series of significant arrests and recoveries in a focused effort to enhance security and combat crime across the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, these successful operations, executed under the leadership of the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, mark a decisive step in the Command’s mission to implement proactive and intelligence-led policing.

Arrest of Suspected Cultist and Recovery of Firearm

On 10th January 2026, during a routine patrol at Hausa Market, Ubeji, police operatives apprehended a suspect identified as Gift Ojulowo, 30.

Upon pursuit, Ojulowo was found in possession of a locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges concealed in his trousers.

He has confessed to membership in the Aye Confraternity cult group, and efforts are underway to locate other gang members.

Seizure of Illicit Drugs

In an operation on 8th January, the Raiders Unit seized 36 bottles of nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” from Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso, 43.

This operation, led by SP Akanya Agbogha, highlights the Command’s commitment to combating the circulation of illicit substances. The investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the drugs.

Arrests of Motorcycle Snatchers

On 4th January, a targeted operation resulted in the arrest of two armed robbers, Owakwe Chuks, 37, and Bright Moses, 32, notorious for motorcycle thefts in the Agbor area.

The operation, coordinated by DPO CSP Michael Obekpa, yielded various offensive weapons, including a hammer and knife, used in their criminal activities.

Murder Investigation and Arrest

In a tragic turn of events, police arrested Aliyu Haman, 20, who stands accused of murdering his brother during a dispute on 8th January.

The incident occurred late at night on Poly Road, and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered.

The victim’s body has been taken to Odua Mortuary for autopsy, and the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

CP Aina Adesola has assured the public that the Delta State Police Command prioritizes the protection of lives and property.

The Command is committed to pursuing criminal elements through decisive, intelligence-driven tactics and maintaining visible policing throughout the state.
