The Delta State Police Command has announced two major breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to combat violent crime and protect vulnerable citizens across the state, following the arrest of a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, as well as the apprehension of a pastor accused of defilement and sexual assault.

Serial Killer and Prison Escapee Arrested in Agbor

On October 24, 2025, operatives of the Agbor Division arrested Michael Ezenwai after he was allegedly found attempting to sell a suspected stolen mobile phone.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), who immediately deployed officers to the scene.

During interrogation, the suspect initially provided misleading information regarding the ownership of the phone. However, later that day, a call to the device led investigators to the residence of the rightful owner, Christabel Egedefe, aged 26.

Officers discovered her deceased in her apartment, prompting further questioning.

The suspect subsequently confessed to robbing the victim on October 23, 2025, and admitted to killing her during the incident. Preliminary investigations also revealed that Ezenwai is linked to previous high-profile crimes and was among those who escaped from Oko Correctional Centre during the 2020 End SARS jailbreak.

He is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Pastor Arrested Over Allegations of Defilement and Sexual Assault

In a separate development, the Command has arrested Pastor Daniel Ololo of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry, Sapele, following a petition alleging defilement and sexual abuse.

The petition, received on October 13, 2025, prompted the Commissioner of Police to direct the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a discreet investigation.

The suspect was arrested on November 17, 2025, at his church premises.

Investigators allege that the pastor used fabricated prophecies and spiritual manipulation to exploit vulnerable female church members. Evidence gathered so far links him to unlawful sexual acts involving several victims, including a 17-year-old girl.

The suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police Reassure Public of Sustained Commitment to Justice

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, described both arrests as significant strides in the Command’s mission to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure justice for victims.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to thorough investigations and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information, assuring them of absolute confidentiality.
