The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh operational breakthroughs in its ongoing war against violent crimes, cultism, and armed robbery across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence and community collaboration, the Command successfully arrested a murder suspect in Agbor and dismantled a suspected cult and robbery gang in Warri.
Murder Suspect Nabbed in Agbor
Operatives attached to the Agbor Division have arrested a key suspect in connection with the abduction and murder of a commercial motorcyclist in Ika South Local Government Area.
According to the police, on October 7, 2025, a report was lodged at the Agbor Division concerning the disappearance of Mr. Friday Orumgbe, aged 53, of Idumu Oza, Agbor, who left home a day earlier on his Lifan motorcycle and never returned.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michael Obekpa, launched a discreet investigation. After sustained intelligence efforts, operatives arrested Musa Buhari, 25, of Alihagu Village, Agbor, and recovered the victim’s Tecno T101 handset in his possession.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he and an accomplice, Manu Usman (now at large), lured the victim into a bush along the Power Line area near Oki, Agbor, under the guise of being passengers.
They allegedly attacked him with a hoe, stole his motorcycle and phone, and left him unconscious.
Police later recovered the decomposed remains of the victim at the crime scene on October 17, 2025, identified by family members and deposited at the Central Hospital Mortuary, Agbor, for autopsy.
The suspect remains in custody while investigation continues to track down his accomplice.
Cult and Armed Robbery Syndicate Smashed in Warri
In a separate operation, police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Warri, acting on the directive to strengthen visibility policing in volatile areas, arrested two suspected cultists linked to armed robbery activities.
On October 19, 2025, a patrol team sighted a gold-coloured Lexus 350 SUV (registration number KWL 359 DS, Abuja) parked suspiciously around Ubeji community at about 3:00am.
The occupants, identified as Christian Agbajor Akpos (33) and Sophia Thomas (26), failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence at that hour.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun, a battle axe, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the male suspect is a member of the MAPHITE confraternity and the Neo-Black Movement (NBM).
He also confessed that the firearm was supplied by one Mr. Shimaye, said to be the Deputy Chairman of the Ubeji community.
Both suspects are in custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.
