… As Police Swing Into Full Blown Investigation
The Delta State government said it would follow the case of alleged killing of of Obinna Adaeze, the one year and seven months old pupil of Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School, Camp 74, Oshimili north local government area of the state to a logical conclusion.
Addressing journalists on Monday February 14th 2022, at the State Police headquarter, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said: “As a state government, we are very much interested in this matter because as a government we care for the life of any person whether you are a Deltan or not”.
He expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the “We are impressed with the police over the manner they have handled the matter so far”.
He disclosed that the wife of the state governor, Dame Edith Okowa, has led a team to visit the school and the mother of the victim.
“And we will ensure that the state government follow this matter to its logical conclusion, observing the tenets of the law”.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, who gave the name of the suspect as Emeka Joshua, a 24-year-old young man who is the son of the proprietress cum teacher of the Obinna Adaeze, the one year and seven months old boy flogged to coma, resulting into his death at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba.
According to the Police boss, “the child was at the hospital from 10:00am to 12;00noon. A call was made to the DPO, that the child has given up the ghost”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ali, disclosed that a full blown investigation would be carried out, “what is left now, is for the police to open up full blown investigation. For now, it was alleged that it is the suspect that killed the boy.
“Whether or not it is the suspect, it is left for the medical doctor that is going to do the optosy to confirm that while investigation is ongoing. For now, I call on all members of the public to exercise restrain” he added.
