Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Festus Ashima, has condemned in strong terms the recent vandalism of Chevron oil pipeline at Bibi Field in Eghoro Ward, in the Council area.
Ashima in a terse statement made available to the press on Monday, vowed to collaborate with security agencies to unravel the criminal elements responsible for the dastardly act.
While saying that destruction of critical infrastructure does not only pose a significant threat to the environment and public safety but also undermines the economic development of the community and state.
The Chairman offered to give N5 million to anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The statement reads: Condemnation of pipeline vandalism
“Fellow citizens, community leaders, and stakeholders,
“I, Hon. Festus Ani Ashima, Chairman, Warri North Local Government, strongly condemn the recent act of vandalism perpetrated by some criminal elements, who blasted the Chevron oil pipeline, Bibi Field in Eghoro Ward, Warri North local government area.
“This dastardly act, allegedly carried out under the guise of demanding employment, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The destruction of critical infrastructure not only poses a significant threat to the environment and public safety but also undermines the economic development of our community.
“I want to assure the good people of Warri North Local Government Area that we will not succumb to the demands of these criminals. Instead, we will work closely with the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to our youths to resist the temptation of engaging in such destructive activities. We are committed to creating opportunities for employment and empowerment, and we will continue to work with reputable organizations to achieve this goal.
“I commend the security agencies for their prompt response to the incident and assure them of our continued support.
“Let us stand together against vandalism and all forms of criminality. Together, we can build a safer, more prosperous, and peaceful community.
