The protesters are seeking the audience of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over the injustice melted out on them by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and police brutality on them.
It was gathered that staff of the Assembly were not allowed to go out or enter the premises as the protesters set tyres on fire to drive home their grievances.
A source at the Complex (name withheld), said when the protesters arrived, principal officers have left as there was no one to address them.
Miffed by the absence of Principal Officers to address their demands, the gate was barricaded, thereby trapping staff inside.
It was learnt that some lawmakers are still trapped in the complex as they were not allowed to come out.
According to the source, “Before they came, principal officers have left. There is no one to address them. So, they set tyres on fire on the road”.
There are speculations that the budget presentation by the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, might be postponed over fear of been hijacked by hoodlums.
But an impeccable source close to the corridor of power, who pleaded anonymity, debunked the speculation, alleging that the state government had a working agreement with the protesters not to go violent.
