A Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja, has warned the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori, to discontinue to parade himself as the governorship candidate of the party in Delta State for the 2023 general election.
The presiding Judge, Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo dropped the warning on Thursday July 7th 2022, in a judgement he delivered between Olorogun David Edebvie, as Plaintiff, PDP, INCE and Oborevwori, as Defendants, saying Oborevwori “supplied false information and submitted dubious or forged credentials/certificates”.
The ousted Oborevwori, who is the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), was described in the judgement as “ineligible and unqualified” to participate in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for March 11th 2023.
While disqualifying Oborevwori from participating as the candidate of PDP in the forthcoming 2023 Gubernatorial elections in the state, by INEC, the Court declared that INEC is legally precluded or prohibited from accepting or receiving from, acting on or otherwise recognizing or giving effect to the name of to Oborevwori as the candidate or flagbearer of PDP for the forthcoming Gubernatorial elections.
The Court commanded, directed or mandated PDP and INEC to replace, forthwith, the name of Oborevwori with that of Edevbie as the lawful candidate of PDP for the forthcoming Gubernatorial elections.
