Asaba, the host to the State capital would have been thrown into mourning if God had not divinely intervene.

Ogbueshi Chiweta Bob Okonta, in charge of Umuezei Land Committee, recently escaped by the whiskers as an attempt was made to abduct him.
Trouble started on Sunday 6th December 2020, between 8:00pm and 9:00pm while driving home close to his house, he observed strange movement and an attempted attack, which made him to zoom past his compound in Asaba, to his Ochele, ancestral family home.
Narrating his ordeal, Ogbueshi Okonta hinted: “On my way back home, very close to my house, i spotted strange movements of some young men, stepping out of a tinted colored vehicle, as I noticed their movements towards my car, with intentions to attack me, I drove off without entering my house.
Asked what could be the reason behind such attempted attack, Ogbueshi Okonta, disclosed: “It is connected to the fact that I am supremely loyal to Asaba royal father, Asagba Prof. Chike Edozien, Asagba of Asaba.
“All these are one way or the other tied to issue of past unjust and illegally sold community landed properties, I am now investigating and working hard to bring justice to bear.
“Their attacks can’t stop me from doing what I know to be right and just for community advancement. Our enemies are heavily and evidently losing their legal battles over all illegally sold Umuezei family landed properties in the court, Ogbueshi Okonta, narrated.
Continuing, he said: “I drove off to my Ochele ancestral village home, stayed there for some minutes. I put up calls to the ‘A’ Division Police Station and to the Asaba Community Vigilante, telling them about my ordeal, and sought for help, which never came my way, Ogbueshi Okonta noted.
According to him, after about an hour, he returned to his house again, this time, the attackers vehicle was not in sight on the street, but as he wanted to drive into his compound, one of the boys he spotted earlier, was seen stepping out of his compound.
“The young man, directly walked towards me, as he did, pointing at me, he said, bros we are here because of you.
“As he said that, I saw him attempting to pull out something from his waist line, at that time, I whined up my car windows, as I attempted to pull my car backwards, this time, from the dark street opposite my gate, they pulled their vehicle very close behind my car”.
He ascribed his escape to God’s grace, saying “It was only through divine intervention that I managed to escape from them, with speed and some boldness I can’t say where it came from, but only from God Almighty, I drove past their vehicle, in all, i thank my Lord and God for delivering me from the hands of my enemies”.
