The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has directed an immediate investigation into the Accounts Department of Taraba State University, ordering a comprehensive review of the institution’s financial activities from 2015 to date.

The directive forms part of the administration’s ongoing reforms across public institutions in the state.

The Governor has mandated the submission of all relevant files, financial records, and official documents to facilitate a thorough examination of the university’s financial operations.

According to Governor Kefas, the probe is aimed at reinforcing transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources in government establishments.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional integrity and enforcing due process across all sectors of governance.

The Governor emphasized that public institutions must operate under strict financial discipline in order to maintain public trust and ensure efficient service delivery.

In a related development, Governor Kefas approved the release of ₦235 million for the settlement of outstanding entitlements owed to deceased staff members and retirees of the university.

The approval is expected to provide long-awaited relief to affected families and former employees, many of whom had been awaiting payment of their benefits for years.

Observers have described the twin actions, the financial probe and the approval of funds for outstanding entitlements, as decisive steps toward reforming the education sector while addressing longstanding welfare and accountability concerns within state-owned institutions.
