The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the detention of 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of stealing operational items, including foreign currency and gold.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the arrests were carried out following directives from the agency’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

However, the identities of the officers involved were not disclosed.

Sources revealed that the detained officers allegedly broke into the EFCC exhibit room to steal the items.

The spokesperson confirmed that their detention is part of the agency’s broader efforts to eliminate corrupt practices within its ranks.

“The detained officers are currently under investigation for their involvement in the disappearance of operational items.

“Investigators are making significant progress, and those found culpable will face internal disciplinary measures,” Oyewale stated.

The EFCC also recently dismissed 27 officers on Monday over allegations of misconduct and fraudulent activities, reflecting its commitment to maintaining integrity within the organization.
