Aniocha north local government area of Delta state has banned commercial motorcycles, popularly called Okada, from operating in the council area from 9:00pm till 6:00am
According to a release The Story stumbled on signed by the Secretary to the Local Government, Kennedy Okoh, November 28, 2024, announced the ban by the Aniocha North Peace and Security Committee with “immediate effect”.
The release said: “sequel to the current security challenges experienced, the Aniocha North Peace and Security Committee having analyzed exhaustively the threats to life and property in the locality have therefore imposed a ban on movement of motorcycles (Okada) from 9pm to 6am within Aniocha North local government area with immediate effect.
“All Okada riders are hereby warned as the Police, DSS, NSCDC, vigilante, Anticult group, Anioma Security Watch and other security agencies have been placed on alert to deal decisively with any defaulter.
“All violators will have their motorcycles impounded with effect from Saturday 30th November 2024”, the release added.
