Bank Staff Arrested For Playing Insider Role

A 29-year-old staff of a new generation bank, whose name was given as Kingsley Gbeneku, of Akwuofor, has been nabbed by the police for his alleged involvement in a concluded plan to rob the bank in Asaba, Oshimili south local government area of Delta State.

His arrest followed a previous arrest of the ring leader, Joshua Oghenenovo, 32 years of Uduphori town Patani local government area of the state by the police.

According to a release on Saturday 9th April 2021, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright “the bank staff has confessed to be their informant, and had already provided them with a clue on the modus operandi needed for them to attack and rob the bank successfully.

“On 7th April 2021, based on an intelligence gathered that a robbery syndicate is planning to attack and rob one of the new generation banks in  Ughelli”.

The image maker disclosed that the commander, Eagle-Net Squad detailed special squad patrol teams led by DSP Yunusa Danyaya on a sting operation in one of their hideouts in a hotel in Isiokolo Town of Ethiope east local government area of the state which led to the earlier arrest of their ring leader, Joshua Oghenenovo.

One pump action with twenty live cartridges recovered for him, noting that his confessional statement after his arrest led to the apprehension of the bank staff.

“Serious effort is on to arrest other members of the gang, while members of the public are advised to avail the police with any useful information that will help the police to arrest them.

The Commissioner of Police has assured members of the public that the command under his watch would do all it takes to reduce crime in the state to the barest minimum, adding that the police would continue to arrest criminals in the state and make them to face the full wrath of the law.
