Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have apprehended a notorious bandit linked to the gang led by the wanted criminal, Akiki Utivi, popularly known as “Full Fire.”
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Saawuan Wuaiyolna of Tiv extraction, was arrested on Wednesday at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to military sources, the operation was conducted by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Wukari, following credible intelligence on the suspect’s movements.
Wuaiyolna, who hails from Atereyange in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, was allegedly monitoring troops’ activities in Wukari to facilitate planned attacks and kidnappings by the gang.
At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a motorcycle, which he claimed he had brought to Wukari for sale.
The Army described the development as a significant breakthrough in the fight against the “Full Fire” syndicate, which has been terrorising communities in parts of Taraba and Benue States
