The Police Complaint Response Unit(PCRU) Force Headquarter Abuja has acknowledged a complaint against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) B’ Division Warri CSP Onana Umar Ari, over an alleged case of attempted murder by officers and men of the said Division situate in Warri, Delta State
The PCRU via a WhatsApp message said “Your complaint is hereby acknowledged and investigation has been initiated. Your tracking number is #CRU793270U, thank you for contacting NPF-CRU”.
The Jonathan Giama led CDHR via a complaint dated 30/8/2021 has accused the CSP Onana Umar Ari of unprofessional and Unethical conducts.
“The Petition reads in parts “That on/about 12th August 2021, two police officers identified by the names ‘Felix’ and ‘Ndubuisi’ respectively gruesomely attacked one Mr. Omesa Broderick and fractured his skull for no reason.
“That the said Mr. Omesa Broderick plies the route of Estate Avenue when he was accosted by the said two police officers from B’ Division Warri who demanded for the particulars of Mr. Omesa Broderick’s tricycle popularly called Keke , which are up to dates and same were given to the said Police Officers but they insisted Mr. Omesa Broderick must follow them to the Police station and when Mr. Omesa Broderick queries their demand, behold, that was when they started torturing Mr. Omesa Broderick , until he collapsed and have his skull fractured.
“That after Mr. Omesa Broderick passed out, the duo took Mr. Omesa Broderick’s tricycle keys and left leaving Mr. Omesa Broderick on the ground to bleed to death.
“That it was sympathizers who rushed the said Mr. Omesa Broderick to the hospital in order to preserved his life.
“That it may interest you to know, all efforts by Mrs. Sandra Broderick, the wife of the victim herein, to get the full details of the matter from CSP Onana Umar Ari, the DPO of the Division proved abortive.
“That the said DPO, according to Mrs. Sandra Broderick, even threatened that she should go to Buhari if she likes.
“That it has been the norm of the DPO B’ Division to shield police officers after conducting themselves in an unprofessional manner.
“The Delta State Police has failed to expose the culprits of the gruesome attack.
“That it would be recalled that, one Felix Esezobor and his dreaded gang in the Nigeria Police Force attached to B’ Division Warri, has in the past beaten up on Mr. Solomon Bassey to stupor until he became permanently paralyzed.
“That it was shocking to discover that, the said Felix Esezobor was not subjected to any form of disciplinary measure as obtainable in the Nigeria Police Force till date while his victim, Mr. Solomon Bassey wallows in pain.
“The said DPO, cannot be using the facility of the Nigerian Police Force to shield Police Officers who had engaged in an act of unprofessional conduct.
“The acts of the Police Officers are not only unprofessional but criminal as same can be likened to attempted murder.
“That the medical treatment of Mr Omesa Borderick has gulped a total sum of N5,000,000.00 with no form of ‘cost defray’ from the said DPO”.
Meanwhile, two recorded videos indicting the said Felix Esezobor from the wives of the victims, Mrs. Bassey Solomon and Mrs. Sandra Broderick respectively were annexed to the said complaint forwarded to PCRU, the petition stated
